Minor Hotels is going strong with 61 planned openings and 13,221 new rooms in the pipeline right now.

We find out where the chain is planning its new properties and which ones need to go on your watchlist.

Making this one a year of growth
Minor has big plans for 2020. Before this year ends, 24 new hotels are scheduled to open and add 4,412 new rooms to the group’s portfolio.

2021 will be a bit calmer with 13 openings and 2,613 new hotels. For 2024 and beyond another 24 projects are on the books.

The focus will be on 4-star hotels which will make up roughly three-quarters of the new properties. The remaining 25% will fall in the 5-star category.

Minor’s top growth regions
Given that it’s Minor’s home base, it’s unsurprising that APAC will be the group’s strongest growth market with 20 new hotels. Europe and the Middle East share second place with 13 properties each. However, the Middle East comes out ahead in terms of the number of new rooms. South America, Africa and North America follow with 9, 5 and 1 hotels respectively.

The United Arab Emirates and China lead Minor’s list of fastest-growing national hotel markets with 7 new properties each. Germany and Colombia follow with 5 projects each while Vietnam, Qatar and Italy will get 3 hotels each. Malaysia, Myanmar and Oman will all see 2 launches.

Doha is the leading city with 3 openings, followed by Dubai, Frankfurt, Ras al-Khaima and Yangon with 2 new hotels each.

Minor’s fastest-growing hotel brands
The group’s signature Anantara Hotels & Resorts brand will get 17 new hotels with 3,280 rooms. Avant, Minor’s trendy lifestyle brand has 16 hotels in its pipeline which will add 4,484 rooms to its portfolio. Finally, NH Hotels will grow by 11 hotels and 1,910 rooms.

Noteworthy Minor hotel launches coming up
Minor’s largest new hotel currently in development is the 615-room Avani Cam Ranh Resort & Villas in Vietnam. Slated to launch by Q4 2022, the hotel will feature spacious rooms and suites, as well as private villas, an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty bistro, a beach club, and 1,200 square metres of meeting and banquet space.

By Q2 2021, the Avani Busan Resort will welcome guests. The property will boast 536 elegant rooms and residences. Set in the heart of the rapidly developing East Busan Tourism Complex, it will offer guests access to a vast range of shopping and entertainment options.

In Frankfurt, the 428-room NH Collection Frankfurt Messe will launch by early 2021. It will primarily attract business travellers due to its proximity to the Frankfurt fairgrounds and its on-site event space of 2,000 sqm.

The Anantara Dubai Creek Hotel will feature 290 elegant rooms and suites and will launch by late 2020. Guests will be able to avail of five bars and restaurants, the signature Anantara Spa, the Kasara Lounge and a rooftop swimming pool. 1,350 sqm of conference and events space is ideal for private and corporate functions.
