CONSTRUCTION ON DMCC’S UPTOWN TOWER REACHES 20% COMPLETION
Construction works on DMCC – the world’s flagship free zone, Government of Dubai Authority on commodities trade and enterprise, and master developer of Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) – Uptown Tower project is 20% complete.
Described as “the first supertall tower” in the Uptown Dubai district, the 81-storey building is expected to be completed by Q1 2022, with pre-leasing to start in 2020.
The tower will stand at 340m and feature 188 hotel rooms and suites, restaurants, health spas, conference facilities, and 229 branded residences, which have been designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture.
Earlier this year, DMCC awarded the Uptown Tower construction contract to Six Construct – the entity of BESIX Group in the Middle East – and as of February 2020, enabling, piling and substructure works are also complete.
Commenting on construction progress, DMCC executive chairman and chief executive officer, Ahmed Bin Sulayem, said: “The Uptown Dubai district will increase the commercial appeal of Dubai; attracting both businesses and residents to the existing community of 100,000 people.”
DMCC executive director for property, Paul Ashton, also outlined that “strong interest” has already been registered by prospective tenants for the tower.
