Ramada Worldwide has signed an agreement to operate a 700-room, five-star hotel in the Holy City of Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

The Ramada Plaza Makkah hotel is scheduled to open in early 2011, becoming the third Ramada property in the city and twelfth in the Kingdom.

The agreement was signed between Ramada’s master licensee and Saudi Arabia developer Riyada International Hotels and Resorts, Tadawul Al Jezeera Real Estate Company and Al Masa Hotel Management Company.

“Our strategic alliance with Wyndham Hotel Group’s Ramada brand has provided us with a unique offering for our clients and guests,” said Al Masah Hotel Management Company managing director Waleed Abu Sabaa.

“This is our sixth Ramada property and we look forward to working on future projects with the Ramada brand.”

Riyada International Hotels and Resorts managing director Muhammad Al Amir commented: “The new hotel will complement our strong presence in Saudi Arabia and in Mecca specifically.

“Visitors on their annual Hajj or Umrah pilgrimage will be able to enjoy Ramada hospitality in three locations in the Holy City.”
